The Religious Formation team supports each family’s role as the primary teachers in their children’s faith journey. The Religious Formation program builds an understanding of the basic beliefs of the Roman Catholic faith and nurtures a personal and living relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Welcome Letter for 2024-2025

My name is Sarah Hunter and I am the new Coordinator of Religious Education at Our Lady of Mercy Parish. I am so excited to be stepping into this role, as I received my own religious formation at OLM, not so many years ago.

If you have been involved with our program in the past, please carefully read the handbook, as it includes a few changes to our program this year. If you are new, we are so glad you will be joining us this year!

Religious Formation classes are held twice a month, on Sundays, starting at 10am. After class, catechists will walk the students up to the church to meet their parents in the pews for the 11am "Family Mass." On weeks that we do not meet for class, families are expected to sign in on attendance sheets at the doors of the church, at whichever Mass they attend. If you are traveling, please ask the priest at that Mass to sign a church bulletin and bring it to your next class. During the first class of each month, we will have a parent session in the gym at 10am, for the duration of the time the students are in their classes. We will spend the time building community as Catholic parents, increasing and strengthening our own faith, and exploring new ways to bring our faith to the forefront of our homes.

Please complete and return the registration form to the rectory office by August 1st. If you are registering for the first time, or expect to receive First Communion or Confirmation this year, you will need to submit a copy of your child's baptismal certificate with their registration form. Checks can be made payable to Our Lady of Mercy Parish and write “Religious Formation” in the memo line. All paperwork and payment can be mailed or dropped into the mail slot in the front door of the rectory inside the storm door. Please DO NOT use the mailbox on the wall. The address for the rectory is listed on the registration form and our website.
